Stick To Your Guns & others @ Musicman Mega Store

A music gig held at the Musicman Mega Store was a great way to start off the month on Wednesday night.  At 5.30 the local band Her Majesty (formally Three Faces West) kicked off the night with some their new songs from the unreleased EP “Odious”. After having not played for while (bar the comeback show) it was great to see the local talent back up on the stage. Already into the first song they had the crowd jumping around going crazy for the intense breakdowns that Her Majesty so often delivers.  Next up on the stage was Queensland’s Hardcore/Metalcore act Wish For Wings which got the crowd jumping around even more.  They played a mix of old songs from there previous album “Afterlife” & new songs from there newest studio album “Echoes”.  The group of boys even managed to get a “Wall of death” going, which many bands never manage to achieve in a local Bendigo show. With the mosh pit getting more and more intense with every song, I was starting to get excited to see how the next band would get the crowd going.  The next group of boys was San Francisco’s straight up hardcore act First Blood. They delivered many intense breakdowns and foot stomping riffs to get the crowd going like I have never seen before. The singer spoke about how the band was very excited to be playing such a small town and seeing how big of a crowd turned up.  Next up was the headlining act for the night, the band everyone had been waiting for after 2 and a bit hours.  Stick To Your Guns delivered another very hardcore act, but with more melody to the mix of instruments than the previous band.  Now already into the first song, the crowd was going NUTS! I was absolutely stoked just to be standing there next to such a big USA band, let alone photographing them and enjoying the music they brutally put forth. They had their music drilling everyone’s ears to the beat, which got just about everyone there to see them, jumping around. I was almost tempted to jump into the growing mosh pit myself; bar the fact I had my camera on me.  By the end of the night everyone was ecstatic to have just witnessed and enjoyed the music the 4 bands delivered.  All in all, everyone had a great night and will no doubt be looking forward to the next gig that is put on at the shed next to the music store.
